CAR BOOT SALE

Our first car boot sale of the season takes place on Friday March 17th at the City Calling Stadium from very early till 3pm. If you’re wondering what very early means, some traders will be setting up before the sun gets up. But for the ordinary person who wants to set up a stall, 9am should be ok.

If you’ve never experienced the variety, the bargains, the banter and the craic of a car boot sale, then why not try it this St Patrick’s Day. Volunteers are needed to help Liam Healion and his team so even if you have an hour to spare, give him a shout. All extra hands are welcome.

COBH AT HOME

Our first home game of the 2017 season kicks off this Saturday evening at 7.30 pm when we entertain Cobh. No one needs reminding of our dismal home record in 2016. Hopefully we put all that behind us and pick up some valuable points at home in the CCS on Saturday night.

We do really need a good support turning up and making ourselves heard. If the first round of games is anything to go by, the season ahead is going to be one very long slog with every point being priceless. Cobh, as they’ve already shown are tough nuts to crack who stay with the game right to the final whistle. We simply have to match that and be even better. It’s a long way from the Cork seaside town to Longford so they’ll hardly be bringing a convoy of coaches. In simple terms it’s up to us to get behind the lads from the off and to make our presence felt and heard. C’mon De Town.

WE’RE BACK

After a mild winter, we’re back and ready to rock and roll. Since the disappointment of relegation last season, there have been a fair few changes both on and off the pitch. Pre-season has gone pretty well for Alan Mathews and his revamped squad. Most who attended a few games came away with renewed optimism. What has pleased a lot of people is the inclusion of local talent which makes the season ahead even more interesting. This Friday night, we head up the M4 to take on Shelbourne and a good crowd of travelling support is expected. Hopefully we can start positively with a good display and something on the board.
