Speaking to Longford Town Supporters club, the Skerries native is delighted to have signed for the club “After meeting with Tony I felt like it was the right move for me. They had an excellent first year back in the Premier Division and I am looking forward to helping the team build on that for the next year.”
The right sided player has plenty of experience at home and in the U.S. He began his career at Shelbourne, graduating to the senior squad for the 2008 season. From there he travelled Stateside, linking up with college side, UC Santa Barbara, before signing for San Jose Earthquakes in the MLS. Speaking on his time in the States, “It was an incredible 5 years of my life that I look back fondly on. I met some great people and played with and against some fantastic players. It is something I would definitely recommend to any young footballer in Ireland who is looking to develop.”
Peter returned home in 2014, signing for Drogheda. He then spent last season at Bray Wanderers, scoring the winning goal in the quarter final victory over Bohemians.
McGlynn joins David O’Sullivan, Conor Powell, Jamie Mulhall, Kevin O’Connor, Paul Skinner, Noel Haverty, Kaleem Simon, Rhys Gorman, Philip Gannon and Pat Flynn by committing to ‘De Town’ for the coming season, and he is eager to get started “I think like every LOI player we feel the off season is too long. It is good to get a couple of weeks off to unwind but I am already itching to go. Preseason can’t come quick enough. I am looking forward to meeting the lads and getting started!”
All at Longford Town Supporters Club wish Peter all the best in his time with the club.
