Longford Town FC Pre-Season Friendlies 2019

Longford Town FC will play at least 4 pre-season friendlies before the upcoming 2019 SSE Airtricity League First Division season begins.

The first three announced are against Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians and Double Champions; Dundalk FC.

Neale Fenn’s men will take on Shamrock Rovers at Roadstone on Saturday, 26th January 2019 with a kick off time of 11.30am.

Three days later on Tuesday, 29th January, they will take on the Red and Black of Bohemians at the AUL with that game kicking off at 7.30pm.

The Pride of the Midlands will then take on the mighty Dundalk at Oriel Park on Tuesday, 5th February at 7.45pm.

Three competitive fixtures for De Town with more to be announced over the coming weeks!

Some action pictures from our friendly against Oxford United last week at a sun drenched City Calling Stadium.

Dean Dillon scored his first goal for De Town, with Oxford United’s goals coming from Jon Obika plus strikes from Tony McMahon and Malachi Napa plus a late penalty from Shaun Derry.

We hope the U’s fans enjoyed their time in Longford!



Longford Town friendly v Oxford United at City Calling Stadium

Longford Town will be hosting EFL League One side, Oxford United at City Calling Stadium on Tuesday, July 10th with a kick-off time of 7.45pm.

The U’s play at Kassam Stadium, Oxford and finished 16th in League One last season. Their biggest trophy win was the 1986 League Cup Final (or Milk Cup) win over QPR at Wembley Stadium, featuring an Irish trio of Dave Langan, John Aldridge and Ray Houghton in their starting line-up.

Oxford United were elected into the Football League in 1962, replacing Accrington Stanley. They were promoted to the Third Division in 1965, the club were promoted again 3 years later and enjoyed an eight-year spell in the Second Division, before being relegated. The U’s reached the top tier of English football in 1985 after successive promotions, where they stayed for 3 years.
