Bank Holiday win for Longford Town as they defeat Galway United 2-1

It took Dean Byrne just 11 minutes to find the back of the Galway net this evening.
7 minutes later, it was Sam Verdon who put us 2 up. It looked then like the floodgates might open but in a tight and tense finish, we secured all 3 vital points with a 2-1 scoreline.
A few more pics from this evening’s win versus Galway.
Being a mascot is something really special…treated better than royalty and rightly so…a great evening for great memories.

Goal no. 1 for de Town tonight, Michael McDonnell doing the business.
Peter Hopkins fired in goal no. 2 to secure all three valuable points on what was a bitterly cold night but a heart warming performance.
This was a spirited and classy display by De Town who go top of the table tonight. Well deserved too.
The players salute the crowd and we salute the players…thanks lads for a wonderful night’s entertainment.

What an amazing, breathtaking game of football we had last night at the City Calling Stadium. Great crowd, electric atmosphere and one of the most stunning hat tricks ever . What an incredible team and what a superb hat trick from Dylan McGlade. His aunt (Paula Mahony) had travelled from California for the night and boy was she happy…. every Town supporter was more than happy leaving the City Calling Stadium….and pleasantly exhausted from a mighty night. Thanks lads….C’mon De Town!!!
A few action pics from an unforgettable night ….just like the buzz of old times. Great to see so many familiar faces back again.
Forget about the TV next Friday………get out there and play your part….nothing compares to being there.
One of the most pleasing aspects of games in the City Calling Stadium is the amount of children who add greatly to the atmosphere and who really enjoy their night out…it’s great to see them so well catered for by the stewards and staff and that the team takes time to spend with them after the game.
It’s hard to beat the heartbeat of De Town!!!
