Many thanks to Marty again, here is the team from the FAI Cup Quarter Final in 1988/89, which Town lost 3-0 to Derry City at the Brandywell. The kit was a once off sponsored by The Star.

This is our kit from the 1987-88 season, a plain red and black number by O’Neill’s and sporting our first ever sponsors, Fourways Oil, based out in Edgeworthstown. Thanks to Marty for digging this out from the archives!

Our man Martin Stapleton, has been trawling through the archives for pictures of Longford Town’s kits throughout our time in the League of Ireland, since our election in 1984. Here is a page from Derry City’s first visit to Abbeycartron in the 1985/86 season. And note the lack of stripes and sponsors from those days.
