Jack Doherty signs for Longford Town

Fri Jul 5th 2019

Longford Town FC are delighted to announce the signing of Jack Doherty from Wexford FC.

The 24 year old forward comes to Longford, having scored 6 goals in 18 games for Wexford.

He has previously played for Longford Town under Tony Cousins, making 4 appearances before leaving the club in 2015. He also had spells with Waterford and Limerick and also Ipswich Town in England.

Since joining Wexford in January this year, Jack has consistently produced match-winning performances and will be a great addition to Neale Fenn's squad. With an eye for a goal and quick pace, Doherty revealed it wasn't just De Town who came calling for his signature once the window opened.

"There were other clubs interested in signing me but I felt after speaking to Neale that Longford was the right place to come to..."

The young Tipperary man didn't forget to mention his former club and was quick to thank them after signing for the Red and Black.

"Obviously I loved my time at Wexford...they done everything for me and i’ll be forever grateful. I just want to kep going where I left off from Wexford and bring that with me to Longford and my main goal is to try and go on and win the league with the team..."

Both Jack and other new signing Dylan Grimes are both available for selection tonight when De Town take on Limerick FC at Markets Field. Kick off is at 7:45PM.
