In 1983, whilst still a non-league side, they hosted reigning League and League Cup Champions, Athlone Town. Longford Town had Zac Hackett as player-manager and famous names such as dual GAA star, Dessie Barry and Heysham El Khershi, here's a few snippets from the programme of that occasion.
