A big crowd is expected for tonights Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup first round clash between Longford Town FC and Sligo Rovers FC at the City Calling Stadium.
Longford Town come into tonights cup game off the back of a 2-0 loss at at the hands of Cobh Ramblers in the league last week. We are currently 6th, just two points behind Shels. Sligo are currently 2nd from bottom in the premier division on 24 points, just one point behind Galway.
In what has been a mixed season so far for both clubs, Longford and Sligo, both with a history of success in this cup, will be looking to progress and make a point tonight. Sligo have won the FAI Cup 3 times in the last 7 years. where as Longford's last cup final win was way back in 2004 retaining it after winning it in 2003.
Neale Fenn will be looking to start a successful cup run tonight and has said that the "boys have looked very good in training this week". He will be boosted by the return to fitness of talisman David O'Sullivan who has missed most of the season through a lengthy injury. That, along with the possible inclusion of our new signings. Kevin O'Connor is a doubt after picking up an injury during the warm up of our last home game v Shelbourne.
Sligo Rovers' Tobi Adebayo-Rowling is suspended for the game.
In what is expected to be City Calling Stadiums largest attendance of the season, kick off tonight is at 7:30PM.
